Suellen Fowler

Suellen Fowler has blown and sculpted glass for over thirty years. In early childhood, she displayed a passion for color, drawing and sculpting, and attended classes at Chounard Art Institute in Los Angeles. In the summer of 1969, at the age of fourteen, she enrolled in the Glass Workshop at Pepperdine College . This program was directed by John Burton and taught by his first apprentice, Margaret Youd. Suellen was instantly captivated by the scintillating qualities of light and color in this volatile medium. Fowler has since developed an instantly recognizable style. She is known for the exquisite palette of colored glass she uses in her pieces, the absolute precision of her skills, and her uncompromising aesthetic quality. Fowler has taught classes at The Studio at the Corning Museum of Glass, The Penland School of Crafts, and the Rocky Mountain Creative Arts Center . She has demonstrated her skills at two Glass Art Society Conferences, and at the International Society of Glass Beadmakers annual conference. Her work in included in many prominent collections.
